Information for Planning Agencies
To assist the public and planning agencies in understanding the Chain of Lakes, Zone 7 prepared the Preliminary Lake Use Evaluation for the Chain of Lakes in 2014 and then updated it in 2020.
This report examines and rates the lakes for primary uses (water supply and flood protection) and secondary uses (active recreation, education/passive recreation and habitat/conservations). Almost all of the lakes are suitable for primary purposes. Some lakes were found suitable for education/passive recreation and habitat/conservation. Note that none of the lakes are suitable for active recreation for water quality and public safety reasons.
