About California's Water Resources

The State of California is a geographic wonderland for which superlatives abound.  Death Valley’s hottest temperatures and lowest elevations (134 degrees F at 282 feet below sea level) severely contrast the cool waters and tall peaks of Mount Whitney at 14,495 feet.  California is as rich in natural resources as in scenic panoramas.  It is no wonder that one in 10 Americans live in the popular Golden State.

It is a wonder, however, that a state so popular can continue to provide such a high standard of living and quality of life for its burgeoning population.  The answer is found in the careful management of its natural resources.  Zone 7 Water Agency is working with the State of California and other public agencies in an effort to preserve our regional water resources.  As populations rise and demand increases, water becomes more valuable each passing year.  Drought conditions and environmental constraints also tighten water budgets of growing metropolitan areas.
