Livermore Students Recognized for Water Conservation Artwork

News Release

The City of Livermore, California Water Service (Cal Water), and Zone 7 Water Agency announce the winners of this year’s Livermore Water Conservation Art Contest

Livermore, CA (April 26, 2022) – Ten Livermore students were recognized in this year’s Livermore Water Conservation Art Contest at the April 25th Livermore City Council Meeting. This contest is an annual competition for Livermore’s K – 12th grade students to use artwork to explain the importance of water conservation.

“We are delighted at the high number of participants in this year’s art contest. These amazing student artists have shown that they have learned about how water flows from the Sierra Nevada mountains all the way to our taps here in the Tri-Valley,” said Anthony Smith, City of Livermore Interim Water Resources Division Manager.

The grand prize winner of this year’s contest was Ananya Garg, a 7th grader at Mendenhall Middle School, who’s artwork showed the journey of a single water droplet from snowfall to our homes. Abagail Dow, a homeschooled 4th grader, was awarded second place in the competition, while Annapoorani Amarnath, a 7th grader at Mendenhall Middle School, was awarded third place. Honorable mention awards were also presented to:

  • Junwoo Hong, Sunset Elementary School 1st grader
  • Matthew Seong, homeschooled 2nd grader
